Performance Comparison Between Isothermal Hot Corrosion And In Situ Cyclic Hot Corrosion of Nickel-Based Superalloys

چکیده

Abstract Although a lot of work has been done to understand both major mechanisms hot corrosion, namely type I (high-temperature corrosion) and II (low temperature corrosion), there is very little information available on more representative cyclic performance in these regimes. This addresses this by assessing the isothermal (type II) corrosion tests against combined (short long) tests. Single-crystal alloy PWA 1484 directionally solidified MAR-M247 were assessed all test Pre- post-exposure dimensional metrology was used quantify damage characterised using SEM/EDX. paper highlights that results short cycle conditions are damaging compared long standard conditions. The cast nickel-based found be better performer single-crystal alloy.

Hot Corrosion in Gas Turbines

DURING COMBUSTION in the gas turbine, sulfur from the fuel reacts with sodium chloride from ingested air at elevated temperatures to form sodium sulfate. The sodium sulfate then deposits on the hot-section components, such as nozzle guide vanes and rotor blades, resulting in accelerated oxidation (or sulfidation) attack. This is commonly referred to as “hot corrosion.” Sulfur in the fuel is gen...

Hot Corrosion of Slag Line in Plaster of Tundish in Continuous Casting of Steel

Plasters are produced from a light refractory material, mainly MgO (M.P. 2800ºC), a binder, and a void forming substance for insulating purposes. Different oxides from the slag penetrate into these voi...

High Temperature Oxidation and Corrosion Properties of High Entropy Superalloys

The present work investigates the high temperature oxidation and corrosion behaviour of high entropy superalloys (HESA). A high content of various solutes in HESA leads to formation of complex oxides, however the Cr and Al activities of HESA are sufficient to promote protective chromia or alumina formation on the surface. By comparing the oxidation and corrosion resistances of a Ni-based supera...

Hot Corrosion of Ti-Based Intermetallics with Coatings in NaCl+ (Na,K)2SO4 Melts at 750oC

In this study, the hot corrosion of TiAl, TiAlNb, and Ti3AlNb intermetallics with or without enamel coating and sputtered TiAlCr coating in (Na, K)2SO4 + NaCl melts at 750oC is investigated. The interfacial reaction between enamel and those alloys during hot corrosion has also been evaluated. The results indicate that severe corrosion of bare alloys occurs due to the self catalysis chlorination...

Hot Corrosion Behavior of Magnesite – Chromite Refractories Used in Reverberatory Furnaces at Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex

Iran’s Sarcheshmeh copper industries with an annual production of 120,000 tones are the biggest of it’s kind in South Asia. The main method of production is pyrometallurgical matte making in two reverberatory furnaces which use direct–bond magnesite-chromite refractories supplied by German and Austrian companies. Following a recent major overhaul, bricks in contact with slag, matte and furnace ...
